IsiXhosa has been taught at Sweet Valley for many years and is an integral part of our learning programme for Grade 1 - 7 learners.  The school has made a conscious decision to pursue a structured approach to teaching the language through the development and implementation of a progressive curriculum which aims to foster basic communication skills.

Through this we have worked hard to change learners' attitudes to this beautiful language, helping them to realise the importance of learning another language in our diverse, but often divided, country.  We strongly believe that IsiXhosa is not just a subject, but a means of showing respect for others through learning their language.  Learners are exposed to the language through the use of songs, poems, stories and worksheets.
